Global chemical manufacturer achieves network transformation
Overview
Global chemical products leader modernizes network infrastructure
The client is a global manufacturer of chemical products including alkali, epoxy, chlorine, hydrochloric acids and other similar products. The company operates with more than 7,000 employees and serves customers in over 100 countries. It manages a network of manufacturing facilities in Sao Paulo, Mexico, Guarujá, Germany, Italy and China. The client wanted to simplify operations, reduce hardware footprint and improve real-time visibility and analytics.
The Challenge
Legacy network infrastructure limiting scalability and operational efficiency
The client was facing multiple network infrastructure challenges that required a comprehensive transformation.

- They needed to redesign its DNS and DHCP infrastructure, reduce hardware footprint, simplify operations and achieve significant cost savings.
- We conducted a detailed assessment of the client's existing infrastructure and noted limited scalability and flexibility, limited cloud integration, high operational complexity and a lack of automation and real-time visibility.
- They required a modern network architecture combining cloud services, on-prem appliances and SD-WAN.
The Objective
Establish modernized network architecture with improved scalability and cost optimization

- Redesign DNS and DHCP infrastructure to reduce hardware footprint.
- Simplify operations and achieve significant cost savings.
- Enhance scalability, flexibility and cloud integration capabilities.
- Reduce operational complexity through automation and real-time visibility.
- Deploy advanced network architecture combining cloud services, on-prem appliances and SD-WAN.

The Solution
Modernized network architecture with Azure Cloud, FortiGate and Meraki SD-WAN
We deployed comprehensive network architecture using Azure Cloud, Meraki SD-WAN and Fortinet solution. This helped the client reduce network costs by $2.6M.
- Advanced network architecture design: Based on an initial assessment and deployment scope discussions, we designed a modern network architecture combining Azure Cloud, FortiGate recursive DNS capabilities and Meraki SD-WAN, ensuring resiliency and reducing dependency on physical appliances.
- DNS and DHCP infrastructure: We helped the client build the DNS and DHCP infrastructure and offered streamlined management through centralized cloud-based solutions.
- Advanced deployment methodology: We deployed Infoblox and agile methodology, using DevOps practices for continuous integration and automated deployments during the project stage.

The Impact
Significant cost savings and enhanced network performance

- Generated $2.6M savings in infrastructure costs through network infrastructure redesign.
- Improved network reliability and faster connectivity, ensuring a seamless experience.
- Enabled all small sites to use cloud datacenter for DNS and DHCP, while manufacturing plants used local DDI appliances and cloud infrastructure for DNS and DHCP services.
